About me

My name is Ben and I have a passion for skateboarding.  I have lived just outside the city of Detroit my whole life and have been skateboarding for about 12 years.  I work for Zumiez and I am in finishing my last semester at Walsh College for a Bachelors degree in Marketing.  I started skateboarding at a very young age of 11.  I was completely drawn in and attracted to the lifestyle, culture, and attitude that goes with along with skateboarding.  Progressing, meeting new people, and skating new cities and spots.  Some of my favorite cities to skate that I have traveled to have been Toronto and Pittsburgh.  Toronto is amazing for its huge amount of space, and new development.  New spots seem to pop up daily.  Pittsburgh was great despite how rough and grimy it was.  I think that it is one reason why skateboarding in Detroit is so rad, it is somewhat rough and imperfect.  Skateboarding thrives on economic decline and urban decay.  When cities are lost and forgotten, skateboarders take over.  Breathing life into something that society considers now useless.
